Respiratory Distress

Objectives:

  1. Know clinical signs of respiratory distress.
  2. Define respiratory failure.
  3. Know the differential diagnosis of respiratory distress with consideration to age and ways to narrow down the diagnosis.
  4. Understand acute treatment options.
  5. Understand how oxygenation is measured, and list the 5 physiologic causes of hypoxemia.
  6. Describe the differences between various oxygen delivery devices.
