CHOP Open Access Medical Education

What it is: An online repository of lectures and cases by faculty at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, organized by specialty. They aim to provide pediatric medical education to providers around the world.

Ideal Audience: All students and residents

Why It’s Great: An easy way to supplement learning while on electives, or using when building your own individualized electives.

How to Access it: Head over to their website and create a free login

How much time to budget for this: Varies! There are anywhere from about 10-20 lectures per specialty, and lectures tend to be around an hour each. We recommend reviewing a specific specialty while rotating on electives.

Other Thoughts/Comment/Advice: Examples of specialties with lecture series include: Allergy and Immunology, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology and Nephrology, Orthopedics, Palliative care, Radiology, and more.

As their site explains: "The lectures are prepared by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia staff in weeklong modules that are prepared in affiliation with the American Austrian Foundation Open Medical Institute and presented in Salzburg, Austria. CHOP Open-access Medical Education is supported by a generous grant from the Leir Foundation. Please note that courses presented here have been tailored for their audience in Salzburg, and they may contain stats and information not applicable to all demographics."
