IHI Open School

What it is: The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is an organization in Cambridge, MA dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare through innovative thinking and systems based improvement. They offer 30 online courses in quality, safety, leadership, the Triple Aim, and patient-centered care. You can pick and choose topics of choice!

Ideal Audience: All residents, respecially those interested in QI and leadership

Why it is great: It's free for students and residents, it's well known and respected, and you can earn certificates that you can put on your resume.

How to access it: Go to http://www.ihi.org/education/ihiopenschool/Pages/default.aspx and create a login. 

How much time to budget for this: Each lesson ranges in time needed from about 15-40 minutes. The Basic Certificate in Quality and Safety has 13 required lessons.

Other thoughts/comments/advice: A great resource to use as a resident as it is free, and makes for a great primer in QI work. You can add this to your CV, too!
