ITE Follow-Up
The American Board of Pediatrics General Pediatrics Certifying Exam, aka "The Boards." For whatever it is worth - we know this exam does not reflect your true value nor does it predict your future success as a pediatrician. Our goal is to maximize the odds that this test will go smoothly and successfully. Let residency leadership know if you have particular concerns. This page describes our approach to help you prepare.
Each year in the summer, all residents will take an "In Training Exam" (ITE). This exam can help identify areas of needed learning as residents progress toward the future boards exam. The boards are generally taken in October following residency graduation. The ITE score report includes a specific value – the “associated pass rate” – which lets the learner know what the estimated odds are of passing the boards based on that ITE performance. Using this value, we can help identify residents who may benefit from extra preparation. Here is our algorithm for prep:
| Associated Pass Rate | Recommended Plan | Followup |
| 90% or greater |
|
|
| 76 to 89% |

| 75% or less |
