POPULATION-BASED
PRACTICE & SERVICE SYSTEMS RESEARCH

Translation Research is focused on the investigation, evaluation, dissemination and implementation of optimal practices in contemporary treatment settings.  Built upon core disciplines of clinical epidemiology, quality of care, dissemination research and strategic planning.  This is research that needs to "negotiate" the structural, financial and non-financal barriers to adoption of quality improvement innovations, often in not-for-profit, for-profit and public business settings

 

GOALS OF THE DIVISION OF CLINICAL RESEARCH

  • To provide an environment for cutting edge [Significance] clinical research studies and for investigation of the cause, progression, prevention, control, management and delivery of health services for pediatric diseases [Culture]
  • To provide an optimal setting for investigations by clinical scientists [Infastructure] supported through PHS or other financial sources [Funding] to support primary care population-based research.
  • To encourage collaboration across instutions [Linkage] - to encourage, develop, and maintain national core of expert clinical investigators [Reputation]
  • To serve as an environment for training other health professionals in population-based clinical research [Training] and provide resources in which advances in clinical scientific knowlege may be translated into new or improved methods for patient care [Publishing]
