Roger J. Davis, PhD, FRS, the H. Arthur Smith Chair in Cancer Research and chair and professor of molecular medicine, has been awarded the 2026 Bert and Natalie Vallee Award in Biomedical Science from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
The Bert and Natalie Vallee Award is awarded to an established scientist for outstanding accomplishments in basic biomedical research.
“This means a lot to me because it represents a lifetime achievement award,” said Dr. Davis. “Specifically, the award recognizes my research group, past and present, and also my family support.”
The award highlights his work on molecular mechanisms of stress responses and how they “relate to the etiology of inflammation-related diseases, including cancer and diabetes,” said Davis. This knowledge may pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies, according to the award summary.
Davis is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Medicine, American Academy of Arts & Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Academy of Microbiology, European Molecular Biology Organization and the Royal Society.
