Seven Hills Symphony Fall Concert Nov. 18

The Seven Hills Symphony will hold its annual fall concert on Friday, Nov. 18, at UMass Medical School. Conducted by Seven Hills music director Juli Sancoucy, the “Across Eastern Europe” program will feature:

      • Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture
      • Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, mvt. 1, soloist MD/PhD student John Sullivan
      • Prokofiev and Lloyd-Jones’ Troika
      • Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
      • Danse Infernale and Bercuse and Finale from Stravinsky and Issac’s Firebird Suite

The Seven Hills Symphony is dedicated to providing performance opportunities to amateur, student, and professional musicians throughout Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut; to providing the residents of those communities with access to high quality, low cost symphonic music; and to promote music appreciation and build community through our outreach programs.

Performing a varied repertoire under the leadership of professional conductors, the orchestra strives to create a noncompetitive, nonthreatening musical environment that is welcoming to musicians with a wide range of skill levels.

Seven Hills Symphony was founded in 2005 by cellist Joanna Chaurette, MD, PhD, while she was a student at UMMS. Dr. Chaurette’s husband, Scott, a professional conductor, previously served as the symphony’s music director. They turned its leadership over to musician and conductor Juli Sancoucy following Chaurette’s graduation and entry into medical residency last year.

The Seven Hills Symphony fall concert is being held Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Faculty Conference Room at UMass Medical School. Admission is free and open to the public, with donations gladly accepted to help fund educational opportunities and future performances.
