Preparing for Your First Visit

It is important for you to be seen, heard, and feel understood in discussing your symptoms and concerns with the neurologist.

Patients have found it helpful to prepare a record of their symptoms with questions to discuss during the appointment. Important items to bring with you to your first appointment include:

  • Current medication list
  • Notes from previous doctors’ histories and examinations
  • Copies of lab tests/reports
  • Films or digital images (on CD) of brain imaging

If you do not have copies, please ensure the referring provider has sent these to the clinic ahead of your visit.

The initial evaluation appointment includes approximately 60 - 80 minutes with the neurologist and a medical history review. Subsequent visits are 30 - 45 minutes with the neurologist or nurse practitioner.
