The UMass Cancer Walk, which supports cancer research and clinical trials at UMass Chan Medical School, returns to Polar Park on Sunday, Sept. 27, with its popular superhero theme.
“The superhero theme reminds us of something simple but profound: You don’t need superpowers to make a difference,” Chancellor David D. McManus, MD’02, ScM’12, MBA, said about the 28th annual walk in a personal video message. “Every donation raised and every supporter engaged helps bring hope and critical resources to the patients who need them most.”
More than 150 clinical trials are underway right now at UMass Chan for cancer patients.
“When you join the walk, you become part of something bigger than yourself. You are contributing to pushing life-changing discoveries forward and making them more accessible,” Chancellor McManus said, noting that his wife Diana will participate in the survivor’s lap this year because of the breast cancer treatment and care that she received.
