Interest in Geriatrics:

Serving as a clinician-scientist passionate about improving the overall well-being of older adults by addressing complex interwoven multimorbidity, polypharmacy, and social context issues that impact clinical and patient outcomes, while taking into cognizance “What matters most to my patients” - which I regard as the greatest opportunity of a lifetime!

What are your favorite Central MA activities?
Enjoying the beautiful scenery of Cape Cod beaches and the lingering taste of the exotic seafood, meeting new folks while attending and participating in catholic masses.

Why did you choose UMass Chan Medical School for your Geriatric Medicine Fellowship?
The UMass Chan Medical Geriatric Fellowship remains my ultimate choice as the program provides holistic training tailored to enhance my career trajectory as a Geriatric physician-scientist and enables me to function at the intersection of the things that I love: compassionate service for older adults through medicine and clinical research.

The Geriatric Outpatient Clinic delivers evidence-based care to older adults while incorporating the 5Ms framework and implementing a longitudinal design that fosters a strong patient-provider relationship with remarkable patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. In addition, there are great opportunities to work closely with the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) which provides a wide range of medical, social, recreational, and wellness activities to older adults aimed at promoting their optimal functionality while dwelling in the community. For older adults who need more long-term care, there are nursing home rotations that emphasize the longitudinal management of residents and working closely with their families and caregivers for an optimal experience.

Furthermore, there is a strong and dedicated faculty mentorship with tremendous emphasis on clinical education and unique patient diversity while managing complex medical conditions with multimorbidity, addressing polypharmacy, and advocating for patients within multidisciplinary team management – with the goal of making me an all-around geriatrician!

What are your favorite Central MA activities?
Enjoying the cuisine of local restaurants, and exploring the innumerable hiking trails.

Why did you choose UMass Chan Medical School for your Geriatric Medicine Fellowship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my residency at this institution and wanted to come back to complete my journey through fellowship. During my residency, I was fortunate enough to get to know some of the geriatricians in the department, some of whom had a lasting impression on me and inspired me to return and learn more from them. Additionally, UMass is a large academic center with many specialists working in concert with the geriatrics division —not to mention the multiple nursing homes/rehabs affiliated with the division. This made me confident I was going to get the necessary experience needed to become a well-rounded geriatrician.
