Facilities

The Department of Genomics and Computational Biology occupies 7,000 square-feet on the 4th and 5th floors of the Albert Sherman Center (ASC). The ASC cutting edge design integrates research and teaching in an exciting collaborative environment.

Resources

The Department of Genomics and Computational Biology has access to campus-wide computing resources. UMass Chan is part of the Mass Green High-Performance Computing Center (GHPCC) located in Holyoke, MA. The Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Cluster provides computing to the five University of Massachusetts Campuses. The UMass Shared Services Cluster includes equipment (cores and storage) contributed by each UMass campus and jointly funded components (LAN, Scheduler Software, IDM services, and support staff). In addition, UMass Chan Medical School has invested in a new high-performance cluster devoted solely to UMass Chan researchers. The new cluster is named the Scientific Computing for Innovation, or SCI Cluster, and provides more than 5,000 CPU cores, 44 GPU devices, and two petabytes of modern computer infrastructure. The SCI Cluster has 62 Dell R640 nodes with 40 Intel Xeon Gold 6230 CPU cores running at @2.10 GHz and 380GB of memory. It also has 20 Dell C6525 nodes with 128 AMD EPYC 7702 cores running at 3.9 GHz and 500GB of memory. For GPU-based computational jobs, the SCI Cluster has 10 Dell C4140 nodes with four NVIDIA Tesla V100-SXM2-32GB devices, 40 Intel Xeon Gold 6230 CPU cores running at @2.1 GHz and 380GB of memory, as well as one Dell XE8545 node with four NVIDIA A100-SXM4-40GB devices, 128 AMD EPYC 7763 Cores running at 2.4GHz, and 500GB of memory.
