Research

Fu lab explores how cells sense, decide, and act, with goals of revealing new signaling modalities and translating those insights into therapies. Currently, we focus on immune signaling and lysosomal biology. Using biochemistry and biophysics such as cryo-EM, we discover and reconstitute previously unrecognized signaling complexes and define the principles that govern their activation. Cell-based assays, genetics, and quantitative imaging enable us connect mechanism to function. Ultimately, we aim to convert fundamental mechanisms into therapies.
