Newest building earns Gold

The Paul J. DiMare Center, a 350,000-square-foot building that opened in June 2024 is home to principal investigators focused on gene therapy, the neurosciences and molecular medicine. The building, which also provides space for UMass Chan to train more future physicians, nurse leaders and scientists, achieved LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency and sustainability.

Updating mechanical systems

A ninth-level penthouse added to the basic science wing of the main Medical School building to house new mechanical and electrical equipment will modernize and enhance the capabilities of the existing systems, most of comprised original equipment from the 1970s. The improvements will reduce energy consumption for heating the building by about 85 percent and for cooling it by 20 percent. Read more about the new systems.

VA clinic at UMass Chan in Worcester

New clinic for veterans

The VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System and UMass Chan Medical School partnered to build a new 48,000-square-foot community-based outpatient clinic on our Worcester campus. The clinic provides veterans with access to primary and specialty health care in a space designed for patient-aligned care teams. The new site is equipped to serve 16,800 enrolled veterans in Worcester County. Read more about the new clinic.
