Irem Ünlü, PhD

Irem completed her undergraduate degree at Bogazici University in Istanbul where she studied molecular biology and genetics. Her doctoral thesis work at Northwestern University focused on understanding cellular stress responses in mammalian cells. After finishing her Ph.D., she stayed on for two years as a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern and worked on epigenetic changes during cell division. Since joining New England Biolabs, Irem has been working on circular RNAs and retroelements.

Outside of the lab, Irem enjoys spending her free time reading, traveling, running, rock climbing and cooking.
