Public Records Law Requests

The Office of Management has been designated to facilitate responses to requests for UMass Chan records under the Massachusetts Public Records Law.

As a Massachusetts State agency, University business records are presumed to be public, as long as they have a substantive business purpose conducting public business. This includes:

  • Policies and procedures, contracts, MOUs, license agreements;
  • Calendar entries of business meetings, appointments, official events;
  • Approvals for purchases, receipts, other fiscal processes;
  • Final reports or recommendations; and
  • Regardless of format: email, text messages, paper, webpages, photos, books, maps, recorded tapes, or other documentary materials or data.
