ACCREDITATION 

The Master of Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and the Post-Graduate NP certificate programs at the UMass Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC, 20001, 202-887-6791.

The UMass Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing Graduate Entry Pathway pre-licensure program is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing , 250 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02108. Announcement of Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Visit.

The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing will host a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation site visit for the DNP and Post Graduate Certificate on September 23, 24, 25, 2024.

In accordance with its Procedures for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs, CCNE provides the opportunity for program constituents and other interested parties to submit, in writing, comments concerning the program's qualifications for accreditation.  Written constituent or third-party comments must be received by CCNE 21 days before the scheduled on-site evaluation.  September 2, 2024.

    Student Spotlight

     

    Melanie pivoted from teaching ballet and working as a per-diem secretary at Heywood Hospital in Gardner to enrolling in the Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP) program in the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Chan Medical School.

    As she got to know her secretarial position and the health care setting, she became more interested in what she could do on the other side of the desk. She found nursing compelling because it challenges her to think critically about everything she does.  She is excited to join the profession and wants to become a nurse practitioner in an intensive care unit.

    Student Spotlight

     

    As an ICU nurse working through the most challenging pandemic peak, I realized how nursing philosophy could interplay with bedside nursing. I surprised myself with how specific nursing theories and philosophies connect with better patient outcomes. The Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing faculty's wealth of knowledge is outstanding and will support/guide students in their area of research interests to obtain a student’s goal of a PhD.
