Dr. Corvera's studies focus on human adipose tissue development and its relationship to whole-body insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

She received her MD and MSc in Molecular Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and was awarded a Fogarty International Fellowship to conduct postdoctoral studies in the United States.  She was a faculty member in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to the newly formed Program in Molecular Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School.
