Dr. Sarwat Hussain Updates from Iraq

In early March Dr. Sarwat Hussain gave talks at the 8th International Conference and Workshop of the Iraqi Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ISGH) on "Imaging and Steatohepatitis" and "Ultrasound Elastography". The meeting was held in Baghdad.
Dr. Hussain is currently spending a Sabbatical year, 2017, in Iraq, helping to commission Imam Al Hujja charity hospital, in Karbala. The hospital is due to begin clinical and diagnostic services in May 2017.
Hospital by-laws, quality manual, and policy and procedures are being written in line with the recommendations of the Joint Commission International.
Installation of radiology equipment (all Siemens) has begun with a CT scanner. Laboratory equipment has been ordered. The focus of staff recruitment is on Iraq and the region, while heads of departments will be from the West.
