Boosting COVID-19 Vaccination with #PostVaxLife Vaccine Ambassadors in Worcester, Massachusetts

The UMass Chan Prevention Research Center is promoted confidence and use of COVID-19 vaccines among youth and families in Worcester, Massachusetts. Funded by the CDC's Prevention Research Network, we amplifyiied the voices of youth and families through our Worcester Vaccine Ambassador media campaign. This work was in partnership with the City of Worcester’s Office of Health and Human Services and many youth-serving agencies.

#PostVaxLife fliers and posters featuring Worcester Youth Vaccine Ambassadors sharing their own motivations for vaccination and providing details on local vaccine clinics. 

 

This program enhanced the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Vaccine Equity Initiative. In Worcester, MA, this initiative focused on Latinx, African American, and African communities, which have experienced the greatest burden of COVID-19 and have the lowest vaccination rates to date.

This 16-month project was led by the PRC at UMass Chan's Co-Directors Stephenie C. Lemon, PhD; Deputy Director Amy Borg, and Research Coordinator Princilla Minkah.
