Arianna DeGruttola-Peters, MD
Arianna DeGruttola-Peters, MD, is interested in the brain-gut axis and how to alter the gut microbiota in multiple sclerosis patients to possibly reduce inflammatory symptoms.
Dr. DeGruttola-Peters, originally from Methuen, MA, chose the Neuroimmunology Fellowship program at UMass Chan Medical School because it allowed for unique opportunities she did not see offered at other programs, such as rotations with PT, urology, and psychiatry, as well as Botox training to allow Dr. DeGruttola-Peters to be a well-rounded provider by helping to treat the comorbidities that many MS patients have.
Dr. DeGruttola-Peters shared why she chose to focus on neuroimmunology, “One of my friends in college was diagnosed with MS and seeing her experience led me to this field to help others navigate through this disease. I also find the field of neuroimmunology challenging and intellectually fulfilling.”
DeGruttola-Peters enjoys spending time with her 7-year-old Boston Terrier, Dalton, who is named after her favorite James Bond actor.
