Chancellor Collins thanks donors as momentum propels UMass Chan to the forefront of health care education and biomedical research
All institutions have their moment, and at UMass Chan Medical School, this is ours.
As a loyal supporter, you are a critical part of the momentum propelling UMass Chan forward. This past year, we celebrated our 50th Commencement, a milestone accomplishment for our relatively young medical school, made even more special by the presence of Katie Couric as an honoree and graduation ceremony speaker. Our profile around the world is growing. Globally, people are seeing that we are driving change, with purpose, in the worlds of medicine, science and nursing.
As we look ahead to the next 50 years, we are focusing on attracting the philanthropic resources necessary to support our ambitious future growth plans. This September, we moved into the public phase of Advancing Together: The Campaign for UMass Chan Medical School. Four years into this comprehensive campaign, I am pleased to share that we have raised more than $350 million or 70 percent toward our goal of $500 million. This has only been made possible thanks to donors like you.
Far from an aspirational slogan, Advancing Together represents our community’s collective values and serves as a guiding principle for our work as a leading academic health sciences center. It propels us to offer dynamic curricula, generate new discoveries, develop novel treatments and promote innovation to revolutionize the health care landscape.
At UMass Chan, collaboration is not merely an idealistic notion. Rather, it truly sets us apart, driving new knowledge and inspiring caregivers who put others first. Faculty and learners who could advance their careers anywhere are choosing to come here to be part of this very special medical school community.
And the best part is that, at UMass Chan, we are just getting started. As we embark upon our next 50 years of growth and impact, we will be relentless in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and paving the way for a healthier, brighter future. We are many great minds, but one UMass Chan!
Thank you for your faithful partnership. Let’s keep advancing together.
With gratitude,
Michael F. Collins, MD, FACP
Senior Vice President for the Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts
Chancellor, UMass Chan Medical School
