Welcome to the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine

Mission

The Division of General Internal Medicine strives to provide our patients with high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered primary care, and to train the next generation of physicians and caregivers in these core principles. Further, we seek to create and embed collaborative multidisciplinary programs that improve the care and quality of life of those we serve.

Clinical care

Our caregivers provide longitudinal primary care and population health management to over 20,000 patients, ages 18 and older. We have created multiple embedded disease management and care programs to ensure that our patients have access to exceptional care in behavioral health, addiction treatment, weight management, and bone health.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

The Division of General Internal Medicine is committed to caring for all patients with the same standard of excellence regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, or social class. We are committed to hiring practices that aim to ensure that our patients will see someone who looks like them providing care in our clinical spaces. Our leadership, faculty, and staff also participate in ongoing education, such as the Department of Medicine-sponsored Unconscious Bias Training, so that we may deepen our understanding of these critical issues, and affirm our commitment to treating all patients and members of our team inclusively and equitably.
