Research

Dr. Walkey is a pulmonary and critical care physician, clinical epidemiologist, and health services researcher focused on identifying and implementing care practices that improve the health of critically ill patients. His research seeks to improve processes and outcomes of critical care, reduce cardiovascular complications of sepsis, account for patient preferences in the evaluation of healthcare delivery, develop translational research teams, compare outcomes in observational research, and implement new evidence. As the inaugural chief of the Division of Health Systems Science in the Department of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School, Dr. Walkey leads a division dedicated to rigor and innovation within learning health systems research.
