Kara M. Smith, MD, is a clinician scientist focused on improving the detection, monitoring, and treatment of speech, communication, and cognitive symptoms in people living with Parkinson’s disease and related conditions. She has been dedicated to improving the lives of patients with Parkinson’s disease through patient-centered clinical research since 2013. Smith, MD, was awarded a prestigious K23 grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Communication Disorders (NIDCD) to study acoustic and linguistic speech markers of cognitive function in Parkinson’s disease.
