Welcome to the Office of Faculty Affairs! Our office supports the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School in their mission of excellence in healthcare, education, service and research. We are involved with faculty at every step of their career; from recruitment to retirement, “cultivating the workforce of the future”, one of the strategic goals of our Academic Health Sciences Center.
We are responsible for the implementation and management of the faculty appointment and promotions process, the tenure process, governance policies, department five year reviews and other faculty-related matters within the Medical School. We support many of the Medical School governance bodies and faculty committees, including the Faculty Council, Executive Council and Women's Faculty Committee. In addition, we organize various work groups and task forces related to academic policies and procedures. Together, these efforts create a culture of inclusion and community, and provide input on faculty needs.
We offer a wide array of programs with sustainable strategies to enhance and strengthen faculty successes as individuals progress in their academic careers. The Faculty Development Program offers a wide array of workshops and programming designed to help faculty enrich their professional lives, enhance personal growth, advance in their academic careers, build collaborative relationships with colleagues, and sustain their vitality throughout the academic life cycle. The Faculty Mentoring Program supports mentoring for professional and personal development in teaching, research, clinical care and leadership.
In addition to our formal programs, we sponsor a series of social events to encourage faculty interactions and further create a culture of inclusion and community. We hope to see you at our next event.
