Division of Hematology and Oncology
The University of Massachusetts Division of Hematology/Oncology offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of blood disorders (hematology) and cancer (oncology). Our division is an integral part of the UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence and the UMass Medical School. We coordinate with expert colleagues in surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and other disciplines. State-of-the-art care is provided in the warm supportive environments of both the University and Memorial campuses in Worcester, MA. UMass faculty members also provide care at affiliated and member hospitals throughout Massachusetts and in Connecticut.
Expert evaluation (including second opinions) and treatment is available for cancers of the lung, breast, prostate, colon/rectum another gastrointestinal cancers, brain tumors, and other cancers. Leukemias, lymphomas and other blood disorders are treated with multidisciplinary approaches, and stem cell transplantation is available at University campus hospital. Expert consultation and care is also provided for benign hematology conditions, including anemia, low platelet counts, hemophilia and other clotting disorders.
The division actively participates in clinical trials that offer the latest in cancer treatment. Division members are also engaged in laboratory based research and translational research in the outstanding scientific environment of the UMass Medical School. The division has a fully accredited ACGME Fellowship Training Program in Hematology/Oncology.
