Child ‘cured’ of HIV still virus free, doctors say

A 3-year-old Mississippi child born with HIV and treated with a combination of antiviral drugs shortly after birth remains free of active infection 18 months after all treatment ceased, according to an updated case report in The New England Journal of Medicine. Katherine Luzuriaga, MD, professor of molecular medicine, pediatrics and medicine, is senior author on the report.
