What is your role and how does it support the overall institution?
As an academic physician and educational leader in the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, I have worked hard to provide quality primary care services to my patients and to teach medical students and residents the knowledge and skills required to be excellent primary care physicians as well.

What part of your job brings you the greatest satisfaction?
The part of my job that brings me the greatest satisfaction has been in working with intellectually and developmentally disabled patients. I have written and presented nationally on the intricacies of taking care of those with developmental challenges and I have welcomed a number of patients into my practice with diverse conditions, such as Down syndrome, Prader-Willi, autism and Fragile X. This has allowed me to develop curriculum for medical students to learn about caring for this underserved population.

What do you like about working at UMMS?
What I like the most about UMass Chan Medical School are the incredibly supportive colleagues I have! They are always helpful, whether in collaborating to develop creative patient care methodologies or finding opportunities to teach and engage with students and residents.
