Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. with Service
For the second year running a group of students from the Grafton Job Corps volunteered for a day of service at UMass Chan Medical School in January to commemorate Martin Luther King Day.
Corps students worked with UMass Chan Sustainability and Energy Manager Suzanne Wood and organized several recycling areas on campus, including the SWAP Shop. Students also posted new “Trash” or “Recycle” signs around campus to encourage more participation in the effort to limit the waste stream flowing off campus.
The Grafton Jobs Corp team included Michelle Cook, Peer Leadership Coordinator and Student Government Association Advisor, accompanied by students Fartun Ahmed, Naimo Ahmed, Janeliz Caban, Daniella Franco, Nicole Rivera, Esteisy Serrano-Semprith, and Jamilex Zepedia.
"We are always thankful for the help from the Grafton Job Corps,” Wood said. “I believe it was a rewarding experience for all involved.”
