Home Electronics Collection at Biotech Two Set For Oct. 30
The final home electronics collection event for this year is scheduled for Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot on the north side of Biotech Two, off Plantation Street.
Northeast Material Handling, the school’s vendor for reuse and recycling of electronics and large bulk items, will operate the home electronics collection. Almost any household item that plugs into a wall outlet, from computers, radios, VCRs, stereo components, toaster ovens, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners or window air conditioners will be accepted for free. There will be a $30 charge for television sets of any kind. Computer monitors, both flat screen and CRT will cost $15 each.

“Like all of our electronics collection events, this one is open to anyone at the school or medical center,” said Suzanne Wood, sustainability and energy manager at UMass Chan. “We had a good response at our South Street event in June, so we thought we’d locate this one up in the science park to make it more accessible for people who work in those buildings or park in the Plantation Street garage.”
