Prerequisites: Completion of 3rd year Psychiatry, and Neurology Clerkships 
Elective Description: The primary goal for this rotation is to become comfortable with the flexible application of the neurologic and mental status examination in the evaluation of patients with behavioral and psychiatric disorders related to brain damage. Students will be responsible for performing neuropsychiatric consultations on inpatients and will participate in, but not have primary responsibility for, outpatient neuropsychiatric evaluations. The student will accompany Dr. Benjamin to off-site consultations as well including a residential school for developmentally disabled students. Students will gain experience in utilizing neuropsychological testing, magnetic resonance imaging, brainPET/ SPECT imaging, and EEG (electroencephalography) in the process of neuropsychiatric evaluation. The student will also be responsible for the presentation of a literature review on a topic of neuropsychiatric interest at the weekly Neuropsychiatry seminar/case conference.
