Prerequisites: 4th year student 
Elective Description: The renal elective at UMMC aims to acquaint the student with the basic principles of renal pathology, pathophysiology and immuno-pathology by exposure to a diverse, high-volume renal service. Armed with this information, the student will learn the management of common renal diseases, fluid-electrolyte and acid-base disturbances, and hypertension. Students will also have the opportunity to spend time on the kidney transplant service and rotate on both in-patient and out-patient services.
Please note: Except under extenuating circumstances, cancellation or withdrawal is not permitted because of the demand for this elective and our policy that we do not like to refuse or decline applications for this elective.
