Seddon Lab- Macular Degeneration Center of Excellence
Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Diseases we study:

  • Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
  • Juvenile onset macular diseases- Stargardt disease, Best Disease
  • Macular Dystrophies

Goals:

Our primary goal is to find the causes of these macular diseases, factors that play a role in developing them, and those which alter their rate of progression over time, in order to provide targets for new therapies to reduce the burden of visual loss.

Eligibility Criteria:

You may be eligible if you are affected with one of these macular problems at any age, or have a family history of one of these macular diseases even if you are not affected, as long as one of your affected family members participates. The more people in the family who participate, the better we are able to find the cause of the disease in families and individuals.
