Emma RNA vs. Spike Man Coloring & Comic Book

To help give children a better understanding of the coronavirus that has caused disruption in our daily lives, and the science of the mRNA vaccines, ScienceLIVE and the RTI at UMass Medical School created this coloring & comic book resource just for kids! We hope parents and teachers can use it to help explain this complex situation, while also teaching the wonders of science. We have downloadable pages in English y en Español for you to print out as well as a classroom request form for teachers to request hardcopies of the coloring books.

We want to provide the coloring book to classrooms explaining the science of the mRNA vaccine (depicted by our heroine, Emma RNA) against the evil-doer, COVID-19, (portrayed by Spike Man). We are hoping to obtain enough funding to provide these to any classrooms and/or schools that want them. Please fill out the form below and we will ship the coloring books to you within a couple of weeks. These are most appropriate for elementary (K-5) students, yet could be distributed to middle school students (6-8) also. If we are unable to provide enough printed copies to your classroom, we will notify you and you will still have the ability to download the pdf.

If you are a student, postdoc, faculty, or staff at UMass Chan interested in volunteering with ScienceLIVE, please reach out by email ScienceLIVE@UMassMed.edu or click the form to register below. There are many ways to get involved, from teaching or moderating a module for middle school students, to testing experiments for the modules, to even helping to create a coloring book (see above!).
