Welcome to the Department of Radiation Oncology!

We are one of the largest radiation therapy departments in New England, providing state-of the-art, personalized clinical care for cancer patients in central Massachusetts.

Clinical Care

The UMass Medical School Department of Radiation Oncology works with our clinical partner, UMass Memorial Medical Center, to provide the highest standards of radiation treatment to our community. 

We treat patients at four locations:
- UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus
- UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus
- UMass Memorial HealthAlliance  Hospital, Burbank Campus
- UMass Memorial Cancer Center at Marlborough Hospital

The Department of Radiation Oncology faculty participate in basic science and clinical research projects as well as providing quality assurance and data management servies for diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy in the NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).


UMass Memorial Radiation Therapy Certificate Program
Accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT),our radiation therapy certificate program educates knowledgeable and technically proficient radiation therapists.

Medical School Education
Foundations in Medicine (FOM 1 & 2): The first year medical student curriculum includes a core course in Cancer Concepts which covers basic science and clinical applications through interactive learning strategies.
Core Clinical Experiences & Advanced Studies: Opportunities are provided for clinical experience in Radiation Oncology

Radiation Oncology Residency Program
The Radiation Oncology Department at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in collaboration with Tufts Medical Center, offers a three month rotation for radiation oncology clinical training.
