Arvin Garg

Arvin Garg, MD, MPH

Dr. Garg is a Professor of Pediatrics and Vice Chair of Health Equity for the Department of Pediatrics at UMass Chan Medical School. He is a practicing general pediatrician and provides medical care primarily to low-income children from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. His research focuses on SDOH, health services, and child poverty—particularly on developing, implementing, and assessing pediatric SDOH screening and referral interventions within the context of healthcare delivery for low-income children and families. Dr. Garg’s research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2009. In addition to his research, he is committed to mentoring the next generation of child health equity researchers. He currently mentors 4 faculty on their NIH-funded K23 awards at various institutions including UMass Chan Medical School. He also provides health equity research mentorship through the Academic Pediatric Association to post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty across the country.
