New issue of @umasschan explores path toward a more diverse, equitable, inclusive medical school

Earlier this year, UMass Chan Medical School made a significant change to its IMPACT 2025 strategic plan by incorporating a new pillar dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion, putting it on equal footing with education, basic science and translational research, community and global impact, and operational excellence goals. The cover story for the new issue of @umasschan magazine, “Reflecting on a work in progress,”  takes a close look at the Medical School’s  journey to fulfill those goals.

The magazine, produced by the Office of Communications, also includes a feature about the evolution of scientific imagery and efforts to create standards for sharing data captured in these images; news about new residency programs for nurses that provide advanced preparation for practice; and introduces the new vice chancellor for faculty affairs, who is also a child psychiatrist.
