New issue of @umassmed magazine explores Medical School’s impact on fight against novel coronavirus

When the 135 members of the School of Medicine Class of 2020 graduated two months early last spring, they became the first doctors in the nation to launch their medical careers amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. The new issue of @umassmed magazine, published this week, chronicles their emotional journeys, as well as the history made in the clinics and the labs by their fellow graduates in the Graduate School of Nursing and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The magazine, produced by the Office of Communications, spotlights the volunteer student task force that quickly went to work supporting the frontline caregivers and researchers. Another story looks at how a number of UMass Medical School scientists pivoted their research to focus on preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and treating COVID-19.
