Surveillance Testing at UMMS
Beginning Monday, August 24, the UMMS surveillance testing site will be in the Faculty Conference Room. Enter the testing area through the door off the medical school lobby and exit through the door at the east end of the room, closer to the Chancellor’s Suite. Floor markers will indicate appropriately distanced spots to wait your turn. Our site is closed today in preparation for the move.
An important clarification: A weekly COVID-19 surveillance test is required for all employees working on campus two or more days each week. In addition, all pre-clinical medical and nursing students, and all GSBS students, must schedule a weekly COVID-19 surveillance test. I apologize for any confusion caused by previous communications.

Health Self-Reporting App/Portal
We continue to have markedly improved compliance with the UMMS ServiceNow app/portal so please keep up the good work!
For those of you who are asking, “Why don’t I get e-mail reminders anymore? Where did my confirmation (green thumbs up) e-mail go?” Unfortunately, due to technical issues, we have had to disable these e-mails. Users of the web portal who enjoyed these features should consider using the ServiceNow app where daily reminders and immediate confirmation of reporting your health status continue to be available.
For those of you who are asking, “Should I report? When should I report?”
- All students in the medical school, GSN and GSBS, whether remote or on campus, are required to report their health status seven days per week.
- Employees who have returned to campus in any capacity are required to log their health status daily, seven days per week, even if they choose to work remotely.
- Union employees are required to log in on days they report to work. Reporting on other days is at their discretion.
UMMS Library
The newly renovated Lamar Soutter Library is now open, and it is beautiful! Please remember that all COVID-19 safety guidelines in effect across the campus - including universal masking, social distancing and frequent handwashing/sanitizing – apply to library patrons. Food and drink are not permitted in the library at any time. The library’s service desk is staffed Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. A UMMS/UMMHC badge is required to enter the library (24/7), and the library is not open to the public.
