Reflection by Priti Agarwal

The photography of Priti Agarwal, MBSS, MPH, is the subject of the newest Artist in Residence exhibit in the Lamar Sutter Library. “A Walk Home” is on display from Wednesday, Sept. 12, through Wednesday, Oct. 30

“Oftentimes I pause from my modern, chaotic life to look around and find beauty in simple things—things like a lone tree soaking up the last light of the day or the stillness in the lake water that embraces the cloud-clad blue sky in its reflection,” said Dr. Agarwal, who is a postdoc in the Department of Pathology. “These simple things call us back to nature, to our roots. I picked up the camera to express my appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. ‘A Walk Home’ is my humble effort to reconnect to nature.”

Although Agarwal doesn’t have any formal training in photography, she is inspired by the works of Vincent Van Gogh, Mary Oliver and Ansel Adams. In addition to extensively photographing in the New England area, she has photographed the Himalayan mountain ranges in Nepal and the coastlines of Nova Scotia. Her work has been highlighted by Nova Scotia Tourism and the Digital Photo Academy.
