UMass Medical School participating in 2018 ‘City That Reads’ book drive

UMass Medical School is proud to again participate in the Worcester Public Schools book drive. The 9th Annual “Worcester: The City that Reads” Book Drive is underway from March 26 through May 15.

The effort promotes literacy in the community, puts books into the hands of children who may not have books in their homes and supports them in becoming lifetime readers. UMMS is one of the largest contributors to this cause, which has collected and distributed more than 320,000 books to Worcester children.

Donations of new and gently used books appropriate for pre-K through grade 8 readers will be distributed for summer reading. Collection bins are located around the main campus in the old Medical School lobby, Albert Sherman Center lobby, Sherman Center 2nd floor Atrium and Lazare Research Building. Collections are also taking place at the South Street campus near the mail room, in the MassBiologics cafeteria and the Schrafft Center reception area.
