The Seven Hills Symphony will present its spring concert, “The Essence of Spring,” on Friday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at UMass Medical School in the Aaron Lazare Research building. The program will include two of the symphony’s Concerto Competition contestants, Eugenia Zhang of Sudbury on Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto No. 1, and Hannah Caris of South Hadley on the Chaminade Concertino for flute.  Also on the program is Sibelius’ Finlandia, Smetana, The Moldau, Sousa, Gliding Girl, and Satie, Gymnopedie.

The Seven Hills Symphony is dedicated to providing performance opportunities to amateur, student and professional musicians throughout Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut; to providing the residents of those communities with access to high quality, low cost symphonic music; and to promote music appreciation and build community through outreach programs.

Performing a varied repertoire under the leadership of professional conductors, the orchestra strives to create a noncompetitive, nonthreatening musical environment that is welcoming to musicians with a wide range of skill levels.

Admission is free and open to the public, with donations gladly accepted to help fund educational opportunities and future performances.
