Winter storm to impact UMMS campus

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm on Tuesday, March 14, will bring significant snowfall and high winds to the region that will unquestionably impact nonessential operations at UMass Medical School.

UMMS campuses will continue to maintain critical operations for which it is responsible; however, all nonessential UMMS employees, including those at Commonwealth Medicine and MassBiologics, should not report to work on Tuesday, March 14. Nonessential UMMS employees will receive their regular and usual scheduled pay for the day and will not need to use vacation or personal time.

Essential employees as designated by department heads should plan on staffing critical operations and will be paid according to UMMS policy, as well as the terms of UMMS collective bargaining agreements if applicable. Employees supporting essential functions within Commonwealth Medicine and at MassBiologics should check with their immediate supervisors for location specific information.

Students will be notified of changes by course and curriculum leaders via email. Clinical students should follow the guidance of their clinical sites.
