Celebration of Service: A Tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 12

The 29th Annual Tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place at UMass Medical School on Thursday, Jan. 12. The keynote address will be delivered by Dara Richardson-Heron, MD, CEO of YWCA USA. All members of the UMMS and UMass Memorial community are encouraged to attend.

Dr. Richardson-Heron has more than 20 years of experience in health care, corporate and non-profit management. She received her MD at NYU Medical School and her undergraduate degree at Barnard College. Richardson-Heron joined YWCA USA in 2012 and was recently featured in The New York Times as one of four female chief executives discussing female voices in leadership. She is using her voice to lead the YWCA USA in building a national movement for the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women.

UMMS employees, faculty and students will also be recognized for service with the announcement of this year’s recipients of the Chancellor’s Awards for Advancing Institutional Excellence in Diversity and Civility, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Semester of Service Awards for student-initiated community service projects.
