Standing in Solidarity with the LGBT Community: A Candlelight Vigil

UMass Medical School’s QMass Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Interest Group is holding “Standing in Solidarity with the LGBT Community: A Candlelight Vigil” to commemorate the victims of the mass shooting at the Pulse Club in Orlando, Fla. The vigil will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. on the terrace and quad in front of the medical school lobby.

A representative of the Student National Medical Association has been invited to speak about the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It is our goal to provide a space for healing and creative expression as we collectively revisit this monumental loss of life,” said John Trobaugh, MFA, diversity project specialist in the UMMS Diversity and Inclusion Office. “We hope to demonstrate that UMass Medical School’s support for the LGBT community is unwavering and ongoing, and that the light of hope ignited in the face of these dark times continues to burn.”
