In addition to working together as cardiac sonographers at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Amanda Donahue and Mary Gemme share a passion for creating art.

"The Art of Amanda Donahue and Mary Gemme" is the latest Artist in Residence exhibit at UMass Medical School’s Lamar Soutter Library. Paintings by Gemme and drawings by Donahue will be on display from Thursday, Nov. 6, through Monday, Dec. 29.

“Most of my drawings are inspired by the things in my life, the places I have been and the people that I love,” said Donahue, who began drawing in elementary school. “This is the very first time I am presenting my art work and I am thrilled to be sharing this experience with Mary.”

Gemme has been developing her skills in drawing, painting and stained glass since childhood. “Art is a very personal experience and my style reflects whatever catches my attention at the moment,” she said.

A reception for the artists will be held at the library on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m.
