Science Café Woo will be among the exhibitors and demonstrators at the TouchTomorrow festival being held at WPI in Worcester on Saturday, June 14. Now in its third year, TouchTomorrow is a free and interactive festival for K-12 students comprising hands-on exhibits and activities focused on science and technology.
Visitors to the Science Café Woo table will learn how a lemon can be used as a battery, and can make their own slime by combining a few basic ingredients to make this unique substance that has qualities of both a liquid and a solid.
Part of the world-wide Science Café effort powered by NOVA, Science Café Woo aims to demystify science by bringing together local scientists and the public in an informal community gathering place to discuss how science applies to everyday life. Since Science Café Woo’s introduction in 2013, local scientists have engaged the Worcester community in an open dialogue about the science happening at UMMS, their passion for it, the discoveries they have made and the relevance of their work to society.
Free and open to the public, TouchTomorrow will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. Merchandise and festival foods will be available for purchase.
