Two new Chancellor’s Awards have been established to honor non-faculty staff members at UMass Medical School. These awards are the latest addition to Chancellor’s Award Program that recognizes outstanding members of the UMMS community for excellence in research, education, clinical care, teaching, civility and fostering diversity.
The Chancellor’s Award for Advancing the UMMS Mission will be given to an individual or team whose actions make a substantial impact on advancing the mission of the institution through public service, research, teaching, and health care delivery as demonstrated by commitment to the vision and mission of UMMS; dedication to always supporting what is in the best interest of UMMS; initiative to accomplish goals using new and improved methods; vision to see opportunities for change and develop innovative solutions; and passion for achieving UMMS goals and mission.
The Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Community Service will be given annually to an individual or team that provides service to the community as demonstrated by a spirit of commitment to those in need of assistance; passionate engagement resulting in a meaningful impact; and strengthening relationships within the community.
Completed nomination forms and nomination summaries (no longer than one page in length) for both awards are due to Bonnie Bray by Sept. 30. Nomination forms are available on the Human Resources Awards and Recognition website. A selection committee will review the nominations and choose candidates to forward to the chancellor who will make the final decision about the award recipients. The awards will be presented at the annual Employee Recognition Dinner on Nov. 20.
