Education Recognition Awards to feature ‘Last Lecture’ from Benjamin

Sheldon Benjamin, MD, professor of psychiatry and neurology, will give the Last Lecture at the annual Educational Recognition Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 9, at 4 p.m. in the Albert Sherman Center Lecture Hall. Dr. Benjamin received the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Teaching at Convocation in September. His lecture is titled "On Mentorship and Memory" and will include thoughts on how the brain remembers, how memory serves us and some aspects of memorable teachers.

In addition to the lecture, faculty will be presented with awards that recognize excellence in teaching, research and service. The following awards will be presented:

  • Lamar Soutter Award
  • Educational “Star” Award
  • Patient-Teacher Award
  • GSBS Dean’s Award
  • GSBS Faculty Awards
    • For outstanding contributions to curricular development
    • For research mentoring and commitment to student professional advancement
    • For contributions in the lecture and classroom settings
  • GSN Dean’s Award
  • GSN Distinguished Faculty Award

A reception will follow in the Sherman Center Cube.
