Hoping to harness the momentum generated at the recent Volunteer Fair, the Office of Community and Government Relations has launched a monthly volunteer brown bag luncheon.
Representatives of two iconic service organizations—the American Red Cross, which is often first on the scene in disasters and emergencies worldwide, and Easter Seals, known as the go-to organization for people with special needs and their families—will be featured guests at the March Volunteer Brown Bag Luncheon Seminar hosted by the UMass Medical School Office of Community and Government Relations.
The seminar series is designed to inspire members of the UMMS community to become active volunteers in the local community. “Our goal is to host one volunteer event per month featuring two organizations that are in need of local volunteers,” said Kola Akindele, manager of community and government relations. “We’ve had such a great response at the annual Volunteer Fairs that we’ve hosted for the last three years and we hope to keep the momentum going with this monthly event.”
This month’s luncheon will be held on March 28, from noon to 1 p.m., in the amphitheater of the South Street Campus in Shrewsbury. No RSVP is necessary, but for additional information, contact Glady McRell at 508-856-4000 or gladys.mcrell@umassmed.edu
